Bundt cake is not just easy to make but visually appealing as well. This chocolate Bundt cake recipe is tasteful and perfect for every occasion.
Brief History and Origin
The original Bundt cake was created by H. David Dalquist of Nordic Ware, inspired by European baking pans of the same shape. He developed an aluminium pan that could produce a ring-shaped cake with ridges along its sides, which he named after the German word “bund” or “bond,” meaning “a gathering of people bound together.” The pan underwent several alterations before it became the iconic design we know today.

- Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 180g softened butter
- 225g white granulated sugar
- ¾ tsp almond extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 180g all-purpose flour
- 75g almond, ground
- 3 eggs
- 2 tbsp. milk
- 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp. hot water
- 100g dark chocolate chip
- 30g icing sugar to dust
Instructions
- Prepare oven and preheat to 160 degrees C. Also, prepare a bundt tin by greasing it with melted butter. Mix cocoa powder and hot water to form a paste in a small bowl and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add sugar and butter, mix until fluffy and light, then add almond extract and mix again.
- In a separate large bowl, add ground almonds, baking powder and flour, and mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Crack eggs in the sugar-butter mixture one at a time. Also, add a spoonful of the flour mixture, and keep beating until all the eggs are incorporated. Then mix in the remaining flour mixture and fold gently. Finally, add milk and fold again.
- When ready, divide the cake batter and transfer half to a separate bowl. Add chocolate chips in one half of the batter and cocoa paste in the other batter half.
- Now add a spoonful of both batters alternately into the prepared bundt tin, and use a teaspoon handle to make a marble effect.
- Place the bundt tin in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until inserted skewer comes out clean.
- When ready, take the tin out of the oven, leave for 10 minutes, remove from tin and place on the wire rack until cool completely, then dust with icing sugar, slice and serve.
